Seems odd to me too... Flew this leg last year in C and it was a light snack straight out of DXB then a full lunch type meal (IIRC) before landing in BKK. Perhaps he slept through it???

EK do seem to serve meals in this order (snack then main) a lot more than the other carriers i've been on, but this may well be because so many flights leave in the small hours...
