Stayed there summer 2003. The air conditioning was on the fritz - you may remember it was a record breaking heat wave. They shunted most of the cooling capacity to the rooms, very little to the lobby. The elevators were truly ovens.
We had also emailed and called the hotel concierge numerous times before we came and never got the courtesy of a reply. I complained to the manager at check-in; he gave us Club Level access. As another poster said, it was wonderful for breakfast and to sit and chill in the late afternoon after sightseeing.
