And who would replace Harper? Certainly not Peter McK. And Belinda won't be around to toss daddy's money and old whores [Mike Harris and Bill Davis] in front of the collective Reform/PC masses. Of course, the party could invite Preston back from his Elba exile. But Harper will be given one more election to fight. He has done better than Stockwell Day [who has now proven himself in the foreign affairs role to be a solid MP, but certainly not a party leader or aspiring PM] and the party cannot afford to look disunified and dysfunctional with an election on the horizon. Even the Conservatives are not that stupid [albeit maybe some of the old PCs]. The real thing to follow will be the cat fight between Anne McLellan and Belinda for the leadership apres le fall de Paul. This is the only reason she jumped ship, and didn't start out with the Liberals in the first place [her daddy at least had the humility to run as a Liberal MP before starting/aborting his PMship asperations to succeed PET, and he was soundly thumped by the voters and headed back to the boardroom.] She knew she could not win the Conservatives over because she was too Liberal for the majority of the new party alumni of the Reform, and NeoCons of the Ontario party. And the field of Liberals awaiting Martin's fall was a pretty weak one. So daddy warbucks can start seeding the Liberal Machine. Little Belinda is on her way in search of the "prize"...
