How about this: If you don't like the hotel's "unreasoanable cancellation policy", then go to another hotel with policies with which you are sympatico.
I'm somewhat surprised at the indignation at what I thought was an innocuous post.

Personally, I don't make reservations at hotels that have unreasonable cancellation policies. I'm pretty much an 18:00 on day of arrival type of guy. It just really burns me when I see someplace that has a 14 day cancellation policy - ESPECIALLY if you're making a reservation 10 days out. That, IMHO, is ridiculous! Of course, that's a topic for another thread. This thread is about making hotel reservations with an invalid credit card (and more specifcally, in the case of the original post, doing so inadvertantly).
