Kyle, this is the greatest reason to have an amex as only amex has this golbal transfer system. And in a lot of countries you can still keep your existing card(usa,uk). I say the annual fee is well worth it you are a globetrotting individual and need a credit card as a new immigrant.
You save at least a year establishing credit in that new country by having the amex structure program to use.
