I think it's even more likely that United wants customers to pay for it... by buying up to C or F class.
Seriously, on the long haul flights over four or five hours, the length of which would generally exhaust any batteries, power access becomes another factor that makes premium classes worthwhile.
I would think that this rationale would mean that Y class on p.s. flights would be empowered. Surprised to hear that they are not.
