Perhaps it's semantics but all current turbine jets are built around a turbojet core (which has seen improvement such as higher compression ratios). The "turbojet" is obsolete. The turbo fan/fan jet just has a huge fan (newer "high bypass" such as those found on widebodies and CFM56s) or a smaller one (older "low bypass" such as JT9Ds and RR Conways/Speys/Tays) pushing air around the jet core. The turboprop/shaft has a turbojet but is geared (literally & figuratively) to turn a propellor to achieve the same as a turbofan.
