It is a through flight as it has the same flight number. In days past, there was not way to see that it was, in fact, a through flight and not a non-stop. At least they've done the good step of making it very easy to determine what is going on.
One should really view a "through" flight in the same way as any other connection. It
may have the same equipment but, more often than not IME, it involves a change. If it's not a non-stop, it's a connection.
