Indeed. Piston engines usually run on gasoline (petrol), in a form known as Avgas for obvious reasons. These engines are now usually only found on very small or very old airliners.

Turbine engines, which include pure jets (obsolete), fanjets (what we now normally think of as jets) and turbojets (which drive most propeller airliners) usually run on kerosene of one sort or another.
