They are widely available at many of the convenience stores here. AM/PM in particular seem to have them at all their shops, but if the shop near your location does not have one, then it will be 100 yards or less to the next store along who will likely have one.

The clerk will sell it to you, assist you in getting it going and then voila, you are ready to go. The initial charge in the battery is negligible, so I recommend buying it on the way to the hotel or the day before you intend to use it heavily so as to allow charge time.

Recharging the phone with prepaid minutes is very easy as described above and can be done at a kiosk at the convenience store on your own or with the assitance of a clerk if you would like help.
