HALIFAX, May 16 /CNW/ - CanJet, Canada's Low-Fare airline, launched the
first phase of its western Canada service today with the inaugural
Calgary-Toronto flight departing Calgary International Airport at 12:50 p.m.
local time. Julie N. Gossen, Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating
Officer, said, "This is an exciting and historic day for CanJet, its employees
and our customers across Canada. We are thrilled to welcome the great City of
Calgary to our route network and we are pleased to offer Albertans another
quality option in scheduled air service".
Chris Kelly, Director of Strategic Planning, stated, "Initially, we will
operate one daily non-stop flight between Calgary and Toronto with the second
daily non-stop scheduled to launch on June 27th. Our flight schedule has been
developed to create convenient connections in both directions between Calgary
and the key Atlantic Canada centers of Halifax, Moncton, St. John's and Deer
Lake". He went on to say, "This new service also offers an affordable, quality
option between the major business and cultural centers of Calgary and Toronto
and we are hopeful business and consumer support for our product will permit
CanJet to enhance our schedule and frequency moving forward."
Julien DeSchutter, Vice-President, Airport Marketing, Calgary Airport
Authority, said, "We are pleased to be a part of CanJet's route network. This
new service gives Calgary Airport customers another choice when flying to
central and Atlantic Canada and we look forward to working with them to make
this new service a success."
