You know, this is one of the few hotels where as a Gold member I've actually had a front desk employee make it a point to find me a better room -- and it wasn't even something I asked him to do. Ended up in room 1601, which was quite large for a normal room and had a view of the construction site across the street. Lack of a view aside, it was still nice to be able to sit outside on the balcony.
In addition, the same front desk employee was kind enough to waive the valet charges for my friend who had his car parked while a few of us were getting some drinks in the lobby bar.
The room itself was decent. Like I mentioned it was rather large for a regular (non-suite) room, but it seemed just a little tired; more than a few scratches, closet doors that were crooked, and for some reason, there were plastic cups on the sink instead of actual glasses.
It wasn't a hotel that I'll particularly yearn to visit again, but it was certainly decent enough and I really have no complaints... well, other than the W being booked solid at the time.
