While I like the idea of free luggage tags, I don't like having my MP number on the tag -- too much information. Also, if UA can give these away for registering for a promo, they should be able to reward elites with custom tags showing their status. Perhaps UA is okay doing this as an occasional promotion but does not want to get into the habit of printing tags yearly as statuses change. Oh well, I'll take what I can get... maybe I'll just write "1k" on with a magic marker.

This card, which is the one PremEx links to, was given out in the 2003 Great Offer to those who faxed up to 3 FF statements and received up to 9,000 EQM (but no redeemable miles). The date on the back of the card is May 2003. I have one and used it most recently when I flew back from LHR-IAD on May 2. I am not worried about someone stealing my miles. I check my UA account daily and would love to catch a thief using MY miles!!
