We prefer an apartment type hotel with a kitchenette because of dietary restrictions (semi-vegetarian and extremely low-fat); it is easier to cook than to eat out. The Champion has a huge assortment of fresh vegetables.
I'm currently living near the Place d'Italie (in the Butte aux Cailles - nice little neighborhood) so I'm familiar with the Champion you mention. If you're looking for fresh foods, do you know that there's an open-air market just a short walk from your Citadines apartment? It's on the Avenue Auguste Blanqui, just off the Place d'Italie, and takes place on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday mornings.
