Education in spending at this point is kind of a joke, and it's not an issue we're going to resolve here at all. (How come nobody bothers to mention the "unfunded mandate" term that Republicans were so fond of back in the 1990s when it comes to No Child Left Behind?) I digress ... I just don't have a problem with naming BWI after a fine, admirable man. The fact is, $2 million is a drop in the bucket at the governmental level, and they're going to have to change the signs as it is.
Maybe it's an unnecessary change at the airpot, but at least it's not nearly as stupid as the recent Houston implementation of new freeway signs -- every sign on freeways around here was changed out for ones with a newer "more readable" font. Nothing wrong with the old ones. They just wanted some new ones because they thought they look better. I can't remember the exact price tag -- $15 million or so? Something absolutely ridiculous. And people put up a huge bunch of complaints because the city wanted to spend $20 million to try out a new mass transit system (light rail)? What a joke.
