Darwin Int'l: flying MH DRW-KUL as KL plat (with extra baggage allowance also on MH), the handling agent refused the extra allowance and charged excess. We got a refund back in London after signing an indemnity form! The handling agent was Ansett .

LAX UA domestic: having arrived from Europe in BA biz, travelling on to LAS in Y on a separate PNR, the agent demanded excess $$ for 9 lbs (4 kg) over. I had the chance to repack and take some as cabin baggage but declined the hassle. For the sake of $25, UA lost me and I haven't travelled UA since.
