Come to think of it, several years ago UA had these kind of clubs. They were called International First Class lounges. The difference is that those were cut back drastically after 9/11 and have never recovered. Another difference is that most airlines have that type of club even for their business and elite passengers.

I know you don't really need that level of service for a typical 1-3 hour flight, but it is nice to have especially when there are significant delays or if you are on a transcon flight.
