1. For the above price you could probably get a Business fare with guaranteed upgrades to F, if you went AA/UA.
2. And VS UCS isn't too shabby either. According to quite a few, it's the best business class "bed" in the sky.
3. If you willing to consider one-stop connections, then the options open up a lot more and you could get LH/SQ from FRA, or AF/KL etc all for a price of under £2k for semi-flexible Business class.
Just for the hell of it, opened up my NEWS FROM AIR SOUTHWEST (not to be confused with southwest airlines - slight difference) and saw about their connections onto CO at Bristol. Being curious (and looking for a distraction at work), I priced up a J class return from BRS to EWR. On a 757 2x2 seating, it came out at £1,168 return! Must be the cheapest DIRECT flight in business from the UK to NYC? There's a challenge.
