You do realize that we are talking about award tickets here, right? You can't redeem award tickets on WS using frequent flyer miles. Even if fuel surcharges are justified on award tickets (which I don't think they are), why would AC/Aeroplan only have this fuel surcharge on intercontinental itineraries? Do they not use the same fuel to fly passengers within North America?

How would you like it if you worked for UA and your pension was just scrubbed down by up to 65% and you knew your company was subsidizing FF programs with money that should go to pay the bills. Fuel costs are still almost double what they were say 18 months ago.
I don't care because I don't work for UA. Is it because that you work for AC that you care so much about this supposed subsidizing? I have UA miles and AC miles. When I spend UA miles to fly AC, I don't pay a lot of taxes and surcharges that I would with AC miles.

There have also been reports that people using LH miles to travel domestic Canada have paid even fewer 'taxes'.

When was the last time you, or most of us here, ever bought a full J ticket overseas. Try and get an upgrade on BA with their upgradable fares as opposed to AC and see how they compare then. If you have bought full J...welcome to the world of suckers who pay stupid prices.
What does that have to do with your (false) assertion that AC charges less for J than competitors that have flat beds?
