Advice on Queensboro Bridge

If I'm coming from Nassau County on the LIE and want to use the Queensboro Bridge (aka 59th Street Bridge if you're a Simon & Garfunkel fan ), is exit 19 Queens Blvd the best exit to get off at? Or maybe exit 14, 21st Street, then north to Queens Blvd? Returning from Manhattan, same exit for LIE eastbound? Are there some exits/entrances which are only one way, i.e. if I can use exit 14 for example, to go to the bridge, can I enter the LIE to go eastbound on the return trip?

Lastly, is it just not worth it to use the Bridge, even though it appears closer to where I'm going in Manhattan and saves tolls, and just use the Midtown Tunnel instead? Thanks!
