Marriott International, spending millions on upgrades to its hotels' bed linens, has a lot of hand-me-downs to get rid of. The Bethesda-based company is inviting nonprofits to line up for thousands of slightly used sheets.
Chairman Bill Marriott will be among employees handing out the free linens. It is the beginning of what the company calls the Marriott Linen Bank. And the hotel operator (NYSE: MAR) will have plenty of used sheets to get rid of ahead. Part of its guest-room upgrade program includes replacing the linens on 628,000 beds at about 2,400 hotels.
