There was a long discussion on this at the tripadvisor.com board. My only thought - the Marriott Waikiki has something called a family room, which meets the needs of larger families and just avoids all the questions. From what I have understood, properties are sticking with fire code rules when enforcing these regulations. If they adhere to this fire code reg, it gives me greater comfort that they are following the other safety regulations.
