Northwest Airlines (Nasdaq: NWAC - news) announced today that customers using nwa.com to book Award Travel Reservations will have the ability to redeem their miles and book flights on Northwest's alliance partners KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Continental Airlines. With this enhancement, customers using nwa.com to book travel reservations with their WorldPerks miles will have additional flight options and more than 100 additional destinations from which to choose with the convenience of self-service online booking. Northwest is the first airline to offer online booking of other carriers' flights using frequent-flier miles. Northwest in 1998 was the first airline to provide its frequent flyers with the ability to redeem frequent flyer miles online and since launch nearly 500,000 individual online customers have redeemed and booked online.
