Have you tried contacting your original travel agent to see what they can do? Sorry can't help much about this if your local SQ office has said no. FWIW, I had no problem extending a full fare J ticket, and I don't see what would be different (in terms of IATA rules) in the case that the ticket is not full fare. Good luck!
