As a follow-up, I believe now that US club members may not use UA RCCs even if booked on UA metal with a UA flight number, so a US club membership won't work if you mostly fly on UA and/or to cities with only an RCC.
I believe that benefit ended when US joined STAR, but I do not know why UA RCC members continue to get the benefit with US clubs.
US club members can, for $120/year, add an RCC option, which gets us into RCCs with a same-day UA boarding pass.
I think the change was more towards adding another tier to the US club membership than tied to Star membership. IIRC the UA RCC membership is more expensive than the US club membership without the RCC option, hence why UA RCC members can get into US clubs with a same-day US BP.
