I actually had this happen just recently for Spring Break. Grand Hotel in Gulf Shores AL showed no availability for a couple of months, then one week before the trip standard availability opened up. I called the rez line, dumped the original plan (different hotel) and stayed for standard award.

So keep trying right up to the last moment. WARNING: You will have to check your rez, many have a seven day minimum cancel.

Not to start another thread, but Grand Hotel is an awesome hotel. Bocce ball, horseshoes, crocket (sp?) by the bay; great restaurants; awesome pools; and a great staff!!!!
