I had casually mentioned to the ticket agent (couldnt buy online because of the certificate) about calling Onepass and upgrading with miles to First class. She told me that because I used the discount certificate I could not do this.
Is this true? . . .

KeithD: It depends on who answers the phone! I recently used the $99 Companion Certificate from the Prestige Pack and was able to use miles to upgrade both travelers to FC using miles (domestic tickets) but not without some confusion.
When I purchased the Prestige Pack I specifically asked the OnePass CSR about upgrades using miles (or from Elite status) with both certs ($99 Companion and Discount) and was told, "no problem (if available)." You just can't use both certs on the same ITN.
When I reserved and purchased the tickets from Continental (regular 800 #) the CSR said no upgrades of any kind are allowed (not even operational upgrades

).
When I called the OnePass Service Center after the the transaction to double-check I specifically asked if it was okay to upgrade both tickets with miles even though the tickets were purchased with a cert, the OnePass CSR said, "sure."
Good luck!
