Depending on the kind of fares you buy, you may have a chance at making UGS. In this case, I'd make sense to keep most of your spend (or at least the desirable fare classes) with UA. Otherwise, I'd consider getting EXP. I mean, apart from the extra 2 SWUs every 50k EQMs, I don't see a lot of marginal reward for continuing with UA past 1K qualification/requalification.
There were a couple of threads about this not too long ago (something about a hypothetical 2K status, if you want to do a search).
