We just got back from a trip to Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. We stayed near the opera at the K&K Hotel Opera. It was a very good neighborhood within steps of the metro. I would recommend taking a tour with absolute walking tours. We did the pub crawl (takes you to local places that you would never find on your own) and the absolute walking tour.
