As per the previous reply, Nicosia is in the middle of Cyprus, so no beach.
I didn't tour the island this time, but was told that apart from the well known tourist sites on the Greek side, there are nice places to visit in the Turkish part of the island. However, you are not allowed to take a hire car across the boarder. I've heard though that the hire companies will arrange for an alternative car to be waiting for you on the other side.
