I would agree that out of the 4/5 Laguna resorts at this beach, the Dusit Laguna would probably be the best. However, IMO, the Sheraton is somewhat of a dump. On my last stay, I was first in a ocean-view beach room and then moved to a lagoon-villa and was seriously underwhelmed by both. The rooms were somewhat dirty, plaster peeling, grunge on the bath and so on. The last straw was the two lizards that appeared inside the room, one rather close to the nightstand next to the bed.
Have stayed at the Le Royal Meridien Yacht club, which is part of the Leading Hotels of the World, (and they recognized a Leader's club upgrade to a junior suite too. ^ ). The ocean view-standard rooms are quite nice as well. The balcony is about the same size as the room. And it has two loungers there. The view and the sunsets are stunning.

I was there on a package that included breakie and dinner and found the food to be quite good overall. You can have dinner in one of two restaurants. There is (just) one shop, and the hotel is more focused towards couples or couples with older (i.e. teenage) kids IMO. In the hotel vicinity there is not much else to do, besides the beach, watersports, island excursions etc. There is an open-air stall on the beach outside the hotel for a massage (not hotel-run) that offers massage for about 20% of the hotel spa cost. It's quite a realxing experience watching the sunset on the beach while getting a massage. ^
