Filippi's India Street Friday night is the place to be.
Red sauce Italian and very good. Cheap, too! No reservations, a line out the door but it moves fast. Some parking in the back, on the trolley line.

China Max in the Kearny Mesa area is also fantastic.
They have all the weird stuff as well as some Americanized things for people like me Reservations a good idea, plenty of parking.

There are tons of very authentic Vietnamese noodle shops in the Linda Vista/Kearny Mesa area but I'm not familiar with them.
