Having never been to Budapest, is this enough time for a turnaround to fly back to LHR on the same flight?
I would imagine immigration is quick as Hungary is an EU member state....
I travelled frequently to BUD from LHR even after it joined the EU (last trip in Nov 2004) - and have a slight warning on customs and immigration. Provided you are quick off the plane - you should be able to get through in about 10 - 15 mins from touchdown. Immigration is very thorough with checking passports (look, waive under light, look a bit more etc etc) - there are not always a large number of desks immediately open when you hit the immigration hall - although they do open them up when there are queues. And not everyone follows the signs for EU/non-EU. I've had non-EU in front of me and they can take a while to process.
The same applies on the outbound - with another thorough check, followed by security (this is quick).
I assume you will have a return boarding pass - so you should be ok - but just make sure you're at the front on landing.
