My offhand response is YES, it's a waste of time to try. But if I were in the same scenario, I might make one phone call to at least find out if there is a similar tariff for US on that route at all. My guess is that there isn't, but I might invest one to two minutes to find out.

You definitely are not going to convince them to sell you the seat for $90 just because ATA has that fare.
