Some Gold benefits are not written in stone. Last month, when travelling in WT+ with my wife (silver) and our three kids, I knew we were strictly speaking entitled to lounge access for 4 only (one guest each). My question "would a gold and a silver bring us all into the lounge?" took us easily in in four cases out of five. Gold at least gave me more confidence to ask and assume there would be no problem.

Furthermore, gold = OneWorld Emerald, which will give you lounge access when in OW Y. HEL has a nice OW Emerald lounge, for example.
