Isn't it time they finally finished LeBreton Flats. It was an empty expanse of land when I got to Ottawa in 1967, remained one when I left in 1980, and only just became something when they finally got around to building this long overdue museum.

For once it looks like one of Ottawa's capital construction projects has been completed on time, or at least in time to remember VE Day and the end of the European stage of WWII. It has been something to watch the various events from Holland on Newsworld these past few mornings, and appreciate what our parents and/or grandparents lived through. And the sacrifice many hundreds of thousands of young Canadians made to their teenage years back in the 1940s. The Dutch are certainly showing their appreciation this week for the Canadian liberation...
