British Airways carried 3.4% fewer passengers last month than in April 2004 but the number travelling in the more-expensive seats rose, it was announced today.

A total of 2.92 million people travelled with BA in April 2005 compared with nearly 3.03 million in April last year.

Premium traffic (first class and business class) increased 13.3% last month compared with April 2004.
