For this to work, the wireless companies would have to install picocells onboard the aircraft - at least 3 different ones too - GSM, TDMA, and CDMA. Not going to happen anytime soon.

As one of the few individuals probably left on the planet without ever having owned a cellphone, I am glad to learn that I will not have to worry about "cell yell hell" in the air, just the mysterious "bongs", at least, for a few more years!
