Airphones

Not exactly AA topic, but I think it may interest some here.

I just received a mailing from Verizon.

I believe this is already operational on some airlines, but not on AA at the moment. Basically if your plane has a Verizon Airfone and you have wireless service with Verizon, you can forward your calls from the mobile to the Airphone in your seat. According to the brochure you can receive calls/make calls also connect your laptop at a very reasonable rate of $0.10 a minute. If you sign up before 5/31 your access monthly fee wil be only $5 per month for the first 3 months, after which it will be a regular monthly access charge of $10.

Still a great deal when compared to the highway robbery $3.95 a minute charges. So, I have a feeling we will start to experience blabbering on the phones within days/weeks.

I know I read which airlines are operational at this time, but for some reason I can't find it now. I believe it's Delta, US, Continental and maybe NW or UA.
