Non US (not the airline the country) Pepsi on US flights

I had 2 cans of Pepsi from 2 different countries on 2 different flights and I have never had that happen before. How does this happen? Do they just offload the extra soda from inbound foreign flights and send them out to wherever? Or do they buy more “in bulk” in other nations because maybe its cheaper there?

On my flight from LAX-IAD on Saturday I had a can of Pepsi from Melbourne (clearly imported on the MEL-SYD-LAX flight). Then on my IAD-LAX flight my can was from Amsterdam!

Not that I am complaining mind you, foreign soda tastes WAY better than US soda since they use real sugar. I just found it odd is all and was wondering if anyone knew a reason for this or if there IS a story behind the influx of foreign Pepsi - lol. Has anyone else noticed this themselves?
