CDG1 with a wheelchair may not be a huge amount of fun - make sure you have assistance pre-arranged with BMI (I would call them at least a couple of days beforehand).

As you may know, the terminal consists of a central circular building (check-in, baggage claim, passport checks, shops, etc) and a number of satellite buildings, linked by tunnel to the central building, which contain the boarding gates. BMI operate out of Satellite 3.

For departures, you check in at the central building, then go up into the shopping area, go through passport control, and then down into your satellite. You only go through security at the entrance to the satellite, immediately before the BMI lounge. It is then a very short distance from the lounge to the boarding gate.

The other lounge you will have access to (via lift/elevator) is the SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) Lounge. Almost immediately after passport control you will be able to take a lift/elevator up to Level 11 of the central building. Unlike the BMI lounge this has windows out on to the apron.

At LHR, if you have pre-arranged assistance (recommended) there will be a wheelchair waiting at the aircraft door to take your relative through immigration and customs.
