Word is this morning that Le Meridien is close signing a deal to anchor a downtown Bridgetown waterfront redevelopment project (a la Baltimore, MD) with a 200+ room hotel - http://www.nationnews.com/StoryView....2000%3A00%3A00 With the recent announcement that Starwood is buying Le Meridien this could mean that Starwood may soon have a second presence in the red hot eastern/southern Caribbean luxury market after the St. Regis on Anguilla. In the last few weeks there have been several announcements for luxury properties on Barbados including a Four Seasons at the former Paradise Beach Hotel, a Banyan Tree on an old sugar plantation in the north, and a Hyatt Regency in the south.
