Stopped through there a couple of weeks ago during a purposeful MIA layover between DFW and EZE (I wanted to check out the hotel and sit on the beach). In many ways, I felt like I was in the Standard in downtown LA -- only the motiff was interesting, the people friendly and helpful, the setting beautiful and fascinating.
With the Spa still under finishing-touches construction, my VERY overpriced treatments were bungled by switching between mixed-up rooms and "bang, bang, bang" above the treatment room during a massage. The temporary spa menu doesn't have ANY prices listed and it was a shocker to get the final tally.
Still, every person I encountered could not have been more helpful and it was apparent that they knew a Diamond member was visiting. Had to walk upstairs to the lobby to get the spa receipt from the cashier and she offered a tour of the property, which I happily accepted.
Interesting, smallish second-level pool around which a horseshoe of rooms overlooks the 'beautiful' people. Contemporary glass everywhere. Great materials in the rooms, ammenities. It reminds me of some boutique hotels in Paris and, with good reason, the designer Jacques Garcia gave us Hotel Costes.
Their web site is cool, of course, but I only wish it provided more pictures of the property beacuse I don't have the time right now, nor the recollection to really give you the details you seek.
For ME: I'd go back, with friends, maybe a bachelor party -- and I'd use points and hope for my Diamond upgrade. But, then again, SoBeach is not a destination on my radar -- I'd spend that kind of money savoring the quiet sophistication of the Park Mendoza again and again and again...
Cheers!
