I get this all the time. I sometimes travel with a Video Switcher and four wireless microphones in a case which I carry on since it would not be insured for the proper amount. Every time I go thru security with it, second screening and they have to open it all up. When I know i have to fly with this I arrive an extra 30 mins just to accomidate them.

I also travel with a kit that has cables and connectors that either gets carried on or checked depending on how many bags of personal items I check, it ALWAYS gets searched as there is so much metal (and two tsa locks have been lost from it over the past month).
