Welcome to FT
meggles
I presume the places listed are where you want to stop.
Looking at your first itin
AFAIK there are no *A flights between HKG and CAN, CAN and PVG. So for these you would need to fly via a *A hub (eg NRT, BKK or SIN) which adds to the mileage. There are also no direct flights between LON and SYD. Air NZ has some through flight numbers for LHR-SYD/MEL/BNE (via LAX and AKL) but not sure if those can be used for RTW. Otherwise need to go via Asia - there are several alternatives.
While the mileage from
http://gc.kls2.com is under 29k (the first mileage limit for *A RTW), after making the changes above it will be either in the second tier (up to 34k) or third tier (up to 39k).
Looking at your second itin
AFAIK there are no *A flights between HKG and CAN, CAN and PVG. So for these you would need to fly via a *A hub (eg NRT, BKK or SIN) which adds to the mileage.
There are limited *A traffic rights for MEL-SYD but you should be okay as you are also flying from Australia to US on United (SYD-LAX).
Check out
*A RTW 2005 pricing info and I'd suggest you download the RTW Mileage Calculator from
www.staralliance.com and play with itineraries on that. Its quite easy to use.
