ETOPS:
Nothing wrong with the Targus per se. I've owned Targus, powerXtender and the Radio Shack (now Fellowes) and the Targus is my least favorite. The one that I am recommending is smaller and they all have the same "tangle factor"-- they are each identically "compact and self-contained," i.e. small box, cord on each side of the box. None of them weigh more than 4 or 5 ounces.
The main difference is that with the kind I prefer, you can select any voltage you want and pick up new "tips" from any Radio Shack for $1.99.
If you already own the Targus there certainly is no good reason to switch. In fact for strictly laptop use it's a good as any, I would say-- although I prefer the powerXtender. But, if you want to power a DVD player I don't see that Targus makes a tip for it currently, so you'd have to carry two different emPower devices-- that doesn't strike me as easier. -jp
