You can - this option has always been available. If you use the advanced reply or reply w/quote option - you can choose the notification type you want for the thread you're subscribing to. This all works with the "my flyertalk" functionality.
Are you sure? I see the "thread subscription" option, but doesn't that notify you whenever anyone posts on the thread -- not just when someone quotes you?
