I knew someone would bring up the ALON award change. Yes, it was terrible that HHonors jacked the rate that much all at once, but the rate was 100K for something like 7 years. In all fairness to HHonors, it was an incredible deal for far too long. More importantly, it impacted redemption at a very limited number of properties and only if you were planning on spending six nights at those properties. Contrast this with SPG's changes this year which raised the category level, and thus redemption rates, at over 100 properties even for only a one night stay. The percentage rise in required points was as significant (100% increase in some cases) as the HHonors increase.
