Thanks for all the great info, I'm always amazed at the thoughtful and detailed responses I get on FT.

I've never actually done stand-by on a connection before, so perhaps someone can enlighten me. If there is decent availability, do they just give you the BP at the ticket counter, or do they still make you wait up to the last minute at the gate? Can you still check luggage? And if there's a connection, do you have to stand by for each flight individually or will they put on the second flight when they confirm you on the first?

Lastly, if she misses her flight, and tried unsuccesfully to stand by for a later flight, can she still rebook for a later date without any change fee (assuming the routing stays the same)?
