As I said on the other Thread where you asked this, AA Plat should NOT be comped *A Gold in these Status Match promos.

BMI/other *A airline Gold is the TOP tier of the *A programme, and, as you know full well, AA Plat is OW Sapphire, the SECOND tier of the AA/OW programme/hierarchy.

Yes there is some confusion as *A on the whole (I know LH is slightly different for e.g.) have a 3 tier system, while many other airlines have a 4 tier system or more, including most OW airlines like AA. But the basic point is that middle tier get matched middle tier and top tier get matched top tier, and AA Plat is not top tier.

Thus if there are two middle tier levels in a programme, like AA's - there is a base tier that is nothing at all, then TWO middle 'Elite' levels : AA Gold [OW Ruby, a status that gives you very little], and then Platinum [OW Sapphire] - BOTH get given *A middle tier (BMI Silver).

This is in fact a great deal for AA Golds - cos OW Ruby should really get nothing in the *A prog ! A BA Ruby for e.g (Blue card holder, as BA [unlike AA and QF] only have a 3 tier system), get NOTHING from the *A Status Match/BMI Dublin Status Match/etc.

The confusion has meant some have been lucky - again as I posted before, they gave QF Gold's a BMI Gold, thus BMI Gold has been given to one middle tier level (QF Gold) and to top teir (QF Plat.). I assume that they thought QF was like its partner BA and that Gold was top tier, either way this was an ERROR not a reflection of the actual policy.

But, another point I made on the other thread, this all means that an error HAS been made with the Exec. Plat who was given Silver - he should have been given Gold - Top Tier OW = Top Tier match in *A.
